What is the usual amount or percentage they pay for the fence the neighbors share?

The most common arrangement we hear about is a 50% / 50% split.  However, there is nothing written in stone.  This is strictly between you and your neighbor to be agreed to.  Sometimes, the neighbor won’t pay anything and sometimes they will pay more than half.  The only home improvement you share with your neighbor is your fence.  They get as much benefit out of it as you do.  It certainly is worth asking if they would help you pay for the part they share with you.

When preparing your quote we will break out each side that adjoins a neighbor so that you have a valid written quote to show them how much they would be splitting with you.  We don’t take part in those negotiations nor do we collect from your neighbor.  Our agreement is with you and we will look to you for complete payment.  As an accommodation we will allow you to pay us with your neighbors check.
